Cannibal Ferox LINK
Cannibal Ferox, also known as Make Them Die Slowly in the US and as Woman from Deep River in Australia, is a 1981 Italian cannibal exploitation horror film written and directed by Umberto Lenzi. Upon its release, the film's US distributor claimed it was "the most violent film ever made". Cannibal Ferox was also claimed to be "banned in 31 countries", although this claim is dubious.[2][3] The title derives from the Latin ferox, meaning cruel, wild or ferocious.[4]
Cannibal Ferox
In Colombia, siblings Rudy and Gloria and their friend Pat prepare for a journey into the rainforest. They plan to prove Gloria's theory that cannibalism is a myth. The trio encounters a drug dealer named Mike and his business partner Joe. Joe is badly wounded; Mike explains that cannibals attacked them. Gloria goes missing during the night, and Rudy finds a native village while looking for her.
Due to Joe's injuries, the travelers decide to stay in the nearly deserted village. Mike seduces the naive Pat. In a cocaine-fueled rage, he encourages Pat to kill a native girl. She is unable to do it, so Mike kills the girl himself. In his dying moments, Joe reveals that he and Mike were responsible for the cannibals' aggression. They came to the region to exploit the natives for emeralds and cocaine, taking advantage of their trust in white men. One day, while high on cocaine, Mike brutally tortured and killed their native guide in full view of the tribe. A badly charred body, previously believed to be that of a different guide, is actually this native. Mike kidnapped a native girl to lead them out of the jungle, but the outsiders were followed and attacked.
After the murder of the native girl, the cannibals finally snap and hunt the outsiders. Joe dies of his wounds, and his body is found and cannibalized by the natives in full view of Rudy and Gloria, hiding from the natives. Mike and Pat abandon the others, but all are captured by the natives and forced into a cage. The prisoners are forced to watch Mike as he is tortured, beaten, including having his penis sliced off with a large machete-like knife and then eaten by a native villager. The natives transport their prisoners to another village, but Rudy manages to escape. He is caught in a booby trap in the jungle, and his bleeding wounds attract piranhas. He begs the natives to help him. The natives shoot him with a poisoned dart, and he dies instantly in front of everyone.
Here it is! The original full-length, unrated director's cut of one of the most notorious films of all time. Banned in 31 countries, CANNIBAL FEROX grips you as a group of Americans lost in the jungles of Amazonia experiences retribution at the hands of blood-crazed cannibals. Shot on location in the savage Amazon wilds of South America, CANNIBAL FEROX is one of the most shocking films ever made.
Kind of a prequel to Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox follows siblings Rudy and Gloria and their friend Pat preparing for a journey into the rainforest as They plan to prove Gloria's theory that cannibalism is a myth while stumbling upon a guy who is hellbent on winning the asshole of the year award and getting everyone fucked in the process.
Cannibal Ferox is Umberto Lenzi's second foray into the cannibal subgenre (after Eaten Alive, which I haven't seen yet) and it luckily contains less animal cruelty and less rape than Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust. Sadly it also has less of a compelling story, less spectacular gore* and less nudity.
Three friends (Lorraine De Selle, Zora Kerova, Danilo Mattei ) out to disprove cannibalism meet two men (Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Walter Lucchini), on the run, who they later find out tortured and enslaved a cannibal tribe.
Students Gloria, Rudy, and Pat (Lorraine De Salle, Danilo Mattei, and Zora Kerova respectively), venture into the Amazon jungles to see if a tribe actually exists where cannibalism is a real practice with the natives. Thanks to a "jaywalking iguana" their jeep is run off of the road and they are forced to seek out the tribe on foot, where they eventually run across two drug dealers, Mike (Giovanni Radice) and Joe, who are on the run from the cannibal tribe. They relate a horrible story recounting the torture their companion had to endure right before they were able to escape and how they had to fight off the tribe (leaving Joe wounded).
Where Deodato's film is subtle about pointing out who the real barbarians are, Lenzi's comes right out and points the finger at us (and it's a big angry middle finger at that). Gloria's object is to discover if there is really any cannibalism, and when she does discover that there is, she realizes that it has something to do with the way "civilized" society treats the tribes that causes them to react in that way. The message is a strong one and Lenzi's way of presenting it is extremely graphic.
Meanwhile, in Paraguay, two siblings, Rudy and Gloria, with their friend Pat, prepare for a journey into the rain forest. The three have ventured there to help prove Gloria's theory that cannibalism no longer exists, and that it may not have existed all along, being a myth concocted by greedy European empires to justify colonising the land. After encountering a pair of natives who were brutally killed in a booby trap, the trio encounter two other westerners; Mike, the drug dealer mentioned in the beginning (who is also addicted to cocaine), and his partner Joe. Joe is badly wounded; Mike explains the two were attacked by cannibals. They claim they were with a Portuguese guide who was tied to a stake, castrated, and killed by the cannibals. During the night, Gloria goes missing, and Rudy finds a native village while looking for her. It is populated by a small group of natives, mostly the old.
Due to Joe's injuries, the troupe decides to stay in the nearly deserted native village. Mike seduces the naive Pat, and has sex with her, as well as giving her cocaine. In a cocaine-fuelled rage, he encourages Pat to slowly kill a young native girl with a knife, but she is unable to do it, so he kills her himself with a gun. Pat, horrified by Mike's actions, warns the native girl's accomplice to flee before Mike gets to him. In his dying moments, Joe reveals that he and Mike were responsible for the cannibals' aggression. The two came to the region to exploit the natives for emeralds and cocaine, taking advantage of their trust in white men. One day, while high on cocaine, Mike brutally tortured and killed their native guide in full view of his tribe. The badly charred body that the troupe thought to be the Portuguese guide (who never existed) is actually this native. Mike kidnapped a native girl to lead them out of the jungle, but the two were followed and attacked, explaining Joe's injuries.
In light of Mike's murder of the young girl, the natives finally snap and begin to hunt the troupe. Joe eventually dies of his wounds, and his body is found and cannibalised by the natives in full view of Rudy and Gloria, who are hiding from the natives. Mike and Pat had abandoned the rest of the troupe, but they are all rounded up by the natives eventually. They are forced into a cage (that Mike originally used to lock up natives) and forced to watch Mike have his penis cut off and eaten. The wound is then cauterized to ensure he does not bleed to death. When the natives take the troupe to another village, Rudy manages to escape, hiding in a pool of water from the natives. However, he is caught in a booby trap in the jungle and the bleeding wound of his attracts the attention of piranhas, who force him out of the pool screaming. The natives shoot him with a poisoned dart, and he dies almost instantly. 041b061a72
